Effective field theories in topological superconductors and semimetals

In this talk, I discuss some new properties of topological superconductors and semimetals by employing suitable effective field theories. In particular, I show how an effective gravitational theory can describe a novel bulk-edge correspondence recently found in topological superconductors. In the second part of the talk, I show that a generalized Dirac theory can characterize some new two-dimensional topological semimetals which are defined by a non-zero Chern number.
