Professor Sir Michael Berry will be giving a Colloquium in the School of Mathematics on Tuesday 27th January 2015 at 4pm.

First QI Seminar of Autumn 2014

Dr Rob Nyman will be kicking off the 2014/15 seminar series for the Quantum Information group here in Physics and Astronomy.

Dr Nyman from Imperial College London, will be discussing 'Bose-Einstein condensates of photons in a dye-filled microactivity. Please see the calendar items for abstract details.

The talk will take place on Tuesday 7th October, 2-3pm in Roger Steven's Lecture Theatre 06. All welcome!

International Exchange Scheme gets underway!

The Royal Society have awarded funding to Dr Almut Beige of the Quantum Information Group here in Physics and Astronomy at Leeds as part of the International Exchange Scheme.

Dr Almut Beige will be spending a week at the Lehman College in New York City, USA, researching novel light sources for quantum metrology with Professor Christopher Gerry.

This trip is the first of a series of visits for the exchange programme and will offer opportunities to postgraduate students and postdocs in the School.

Congratulations to Almut on this fantastic achievement.

Speaking in Iran

Dr Jiannis Pachos, of the Quantum Information group in Physics and Astronomy, has been invited to speak at ‘International Iran Conference on Quantum Information 2014’.

Jiannis has is a keynote speaker and will also be discussing ‘Topological Quantum Computation’ as part of a tutorial discussion. The conference will be taking place from 6th – 10th September in Isfahan, Iran.
